On a glorious evening Hunningham is a great place to go and play cricket. On winning the toss skipper Scott Aspinall decided to put the recent cup winners into bat. Adam Ledbrook opened and started well and this was followed up by a good over from Jake Haden and then Elliott Coop. Ollie Orton closed out a good opening four overs bowling well against some good batting. Skipper Scott only went for 3 runs off his over but Max Holtby, Josh Elkerton and Jake all then suffered a touch from some aggressive batting, a quick outfield and catches not quite going to hand. Elliott, Ollie and Max then bowled good second overs and Josh got his just rewards with a wicket clean bowled. Adam and Scott shared the last 4 overs and they bowled well and this was helped by a fantastic direct hit for a run out by Jake. Scott finished the innings off only conceding 2 singles when the H’s were looking to be aggressive. The lads were excellent in the field and backed up with a superb performance behind the stumps by Harry Lloyd. So 306 to chase but a good track and fast outfield the score was achievable.
Elliott and Josh opened against some superb bowling and technically were excellent and not getting out was a great effort by both of them. Adam and Scott were next up and Adam was caught chasing a wide one off the cut strip and Scott was run out having slipped over in the middle. However they increased the score by 10 with Scott smashing 2 excellent 4’s. Max and Harry then put on the highest partnership for the team with Max hitting two good 4’s and Harry both hitting runs and defending well. Last up was Ollie and Jake against Hunningham’s top bowlers and both hit runs and Ollie cover driving an excellent 4. The lads ended up a few short but a good performance against the top side in the league. A very enjoyable evening and Hunningham were, as ever, very hospitable hosts.
